Fausto Caporali (Organist)
In 1981 he was awarded a diploma in Organ and Organ Composition at the “Verdi” Conservatory in Milan – He studied with G. Spinelli and in 1983 he qualified as Master in Gregorian Chant at the Pontifical Institute Ambrosiano di Musica Sacra. Later he attended the courses with H. Vogel, A. Isoir, E. Kooiman, L. Rogg, M. C. Alain, and G. Parodi. He studied privately in Paris with D. Roth and he attended the summer improvisation courses with N. Hakim in Haarlem. He is active both as a soloist and as accompanist of vocal and instrumental groups. His repertory is especially noted for performances of romantic and contemporary music. He has composed many works for choir, choir and instruments, and chamber music. He has also performed in France, Germany, Spain, Great Britain and Lithuania. He has published 'Il dialogo perpetuo-L’opera per organo di Olivier Messiaen – 2008' on the work of Olivier Messiaen, and, first in Italy, three methods on improvisation (Ed. Armelin Musica - Padova). He recorded with Prominence “Il grande organo del Santuario di Caravaggio” 1996, Syrius “Toccatas” 2002, “Grand Etudes de Concert” 2004, MV Organisti e Maestri di Cappella del Duomo di Cremona 2005, and for the Associazione Serassi “L’organo di don Camillo” - 2007. He won the second prize in the International Improvisation Competition in Biarritz in 1995 and 1997 and was semifinalist in Haarlem Improvisation Competition in 1996. Fausto Caporali is titular organist of the Cremona Cathedral and teaches Organ and Gregorian Chant at the Conservatory in Turin.
