GRIMOALDO MACCHIA born in Rome in 1972, starts off his musical studies at the Arts Academy of Rome. Considered one of the most eclectic composers of his generation, he is a pianist, composer, organist, arranger and conductor. He took his degree in composition and piano with honors at the Conservatory "F. Morlacchi" in Perugia. Meanwhile he continued to practice and perfect his abilities and studies in organ and orchestra conduction. He then took his degree in Musical Subjects (Composition - Applied Music) at the Conservatory of Perugia, under the guidance of professor Stefano Bracci. As a concertist he has played for prestigious associations such as: Pontificio Istituto di Musica Sacra, Accademia Romana delle Arti, Ministero dei Beni Culturali, A.I.S.M, A.I.D.O, Schönberg, Rotary Club, Telethon, Cavalieri del Santo Sepolcro di Gerusalemme and Cavalieri di Malta. He has played in several important musical events in Italy and abroad, among these were the Festival of Ischia, the Festival of Sacred Music in Rome, the Baroque Festival of Viterbo, Harmonia Festival in Assisi, Einlandung Zum Neujahrsempfamg at the Cultural Heritage Ministry of Berlin, UniverCity in Perugia, the Bible by Day and Night by Padre Pio's sights. He has recorded several shows for Italian TV channels, like Rai, Mediaset, Rai Vaticano, Radio Vaticana, Tele Padre Pio and Sat 2000. As an organist and choir director he played in several occasions during the mass celebrated in the president's estate of Castel Porziano in the presence of the ex-President of the Italian Republic C. A. Ciampi. He has participated in several courses and seminars held by popular musicians, such as Stefano Gervasoni, William Brunson, Agustin Fernandez, Ennio Nicotra, Egidio Pozzi, Andrea Coen, Ulrike Brand, Gianfranco Lombardi, Danilo Rea. He collaborated as a pianist and composer with the Synth-Orchestra and with the "Ausonia Ensemble". From 2008 to 2014 he was a member of the "Diocesan Liturgical Commission for Sacred Music" and Responsible of the Diocesan Choir of Albano. He was the main organist of the Cathedral of San Pancrazio Martire during the ceremonies animated by the Diocesan Choir. He has played for His Holiness the Pope Benedict XVI, composing and performing his own "Toccata et Fuga" for the exceptional event of the consecration rite of the altar of the Cathedral of San Pancrazio in Albano. On June 14, 2010 he performed for the Mass of the Corpus Domini, aired on a worldwide broadcast live from the Collegiata Santissima Trinità of Genzano by the national TV channel. In June 2009 he graduated with the highest honors in Music Education at the Conservatory "L. Refice" of Frosinone, where he received a Diploma of Merit and a fellowship as the best student of the course. He worked as a teacher of music for several years at the Iunior International Institute of Rome. In August 2010, a CD of his organ compositions, Liturgic Organ, has been recorded by the organist Crescenzo Grifone for the GDE Editions of Rome and SONITUS of Varese, receiving a special Apostolic Blessing and acknowledgment from the Holy Father Benedict XVI. From 2011 to 2014 he collaborated as an organist at the Basilica of Saints Bonifacio and Alessio in Rome. In 2013 he collaborated with the writer and poet Dacia Maraini for the realization of the music tale "The Three Languages", which received from its first performance unanimous audience consents. Also in 2013, the Finnish organist Marko Hakanpää has recorded two CDs of his organ compositions: the first one, entitled Organ Works (Twelve New Classics for Every Occasion), edited by the English editions "Kevin Mayhew", and the second one, The Joy of Christmas, edited by the Dutch Editions "Martin Muziek". His Organ Compositions were played almost all over the world (Italy, France, Europe, Russia, America, Australia, New Zealand, Sweden, the Netherlands, Poland, Belgium, Finland ect.) and performed by some of the most renowned international musicians, including: Marko Hakanpää, Arjan Breukhoven, Stefano Bertuletti, Ivan Ronda, Marco Lo Muscio, Domenico Severin, Concezio Panone, Crescenzo Grifone, Luca Massaglia, Alessandro Valoriani, Emanuele Jannibelli, Lysiane Salzmann, Eugenio Sacchetti, Maurizio Corazza, Jan Peter Teeuw, Thomas Haubrich, Carson Cooman, Harry Lyn Huff, Stephen Tharp, Samuel Metzger, Martin Setchell, Julian Bewig. Since September 2016 he is taken up in accomplishing DAS Diplom "Diploma of Advanced Studies" in Sacred Music at the Musik Hochschule in Zurich. From April 2017 he is organist in the Reformierte Kirche in Birr.
