The Didier Organ of Rupt sur Moselle (France)

The church of Rupt was build in 1863-66 and its bell-tower in 1738.This very large building of neo-gothic style has a quite original organ which was built in 1877 by Charles DIDIER ,an organ builder from the Vosges.ln the 60's ,it was dismantled by some volunteers to be cleaned, but the latter were unable to rebuild it. The scattered parts were taken to an organ builder when the inside of the church was renewed in 1980. The organ was completely rebuilt and fully restored by B.AUBERTIN organ manufacture and more precisely by M.GAILLARD and P.VOBURGER in 1997-1998. This strong instrument is an essential example of the Vosges organ building with its majestuous reeds, its solid and singing Funds ,its rudimentary expressive box ,and its free reed sets...lt is a transition organ with a strong personality ,thot announces the great trend of the XXth century.
